  14. Disney Adventure Themed Areas: FAQs

Last updated: 28 September 2026. Rewritten from six months of sailings: every venue checked against Disney's deck plans, shows that never opened removed, and tips added from what we have seen on board.

The Disney Adventure has seven themed areas: Disney Imagination Garden, Disney Discovery Reef, Toy Story Place, Marvel Landing, Wayfinder Bay, San Fransokyo Street and Town Square. Each is built around one or more Disney, Pixar or Marvel stories and holds its own mix of rides, pools, shows, food and shops. Everything in them is included in the fare except a few extras such as Palo, the arcade and makeovers.

Disney calls them "uniquely themed areas", and they are the reason this ship feels more like a theme park than a cruise ship. On a 3- or 4-night sailing with no port stops on most dates, they are also the whole holiday — so it pays to know where each one is and when to go.

How they fit together: Town Square and San Fransokyo Street are indoors on Decks 6–7, next to the theatre. Imagination Garden, Discovery Reef and Wayfinder Bay are open-air on Decks 10–11, in the middle of the ship, surrounded by staterooms. Toy Story Place and Marvel Landing are on the top decks, 17 to 19. Our Disney Adventure deck plan guide shows every deck in detail.

1. Disney Imagination Garden

Disney Imagination Garden on the Disney Adventure, with the storybook castle and Garden Stage
Imagination Garden: the storybook castle, the Garden Stage and the ship's busiest gathering place.

Disney describes it as "a special gathering place brimming with the magic of 100 years of Disney storytelling", and it is the heart of the ship. An open-air courtyard runs through the middle of the Disney Adventure, framed by a storybook castle three decks tall — Disney Cruise Line's first castle at sea — sitting above a waterfall, with a Sorcerer's Apprentice Mickey topiary nearby.

What's here:

  • Garden Stage — the ship's outdoor stage, with big LED screens and amphitheatre seating. Shows include the Let's Set Sail sail-away party, Avengers Assemble!, Duffy and The Friend Ship, Mickey's Color Spin Dance Party and the Baymax Super Exercise Expo.
  • Food — two of the best included counters: Mowgli's Eatery (Indian) and Gramma Tala's Kitchen (Pacific and Asian).
  • Garden Bar and the Castle Collection shop on Deck 11.
  • Garden View staterooms, whose balconies look down on the stage.

A show announced for this stage before launch, Captain Jack Sparrow & the Siren Queen, was dropped before the first sailing, so ignore older guides that list it.

Tip: come twice — once by day to eat and explore, and again after dark, when the castle is lit and the stage shows begin. For Avengers Assemble!, the upper level on Deck 11 has the best view over the crowd.

Decks: 10–11, midship · Setting: Open-air · Best for: Everyone · Time: 2–3 hours across the cruise · Cost: Included

2. Disney Discovery Reef

Disney Discovery Reef on the Disney Adventure, an underwater-themed area with coral structures and glass canopies
Discovery Reef: coral shapes and glass canopies by day, glowing colours at night.

An "expansive open-air retreat at the back of the ship" themed to the underwater tales of The Little Mermaid, Finding Nemo, Lilo & Stitch and Luca. Coral-reef structures and glass canopies let the daylight in, and after dark the whole space glows as if bioluminescent — it is at its best at night.

What's here:

  • Included food: Stitch's 'Ohana Grill (burgers) and Cosmic Kebabs, themed to Ms. Marvel.
  • Drinks and treats (paid): Bewitching Boba & Brews (a villains-themed bubble tea bar), Palo Café, and Taverna Portorosso, a Luca-themed bar on Deck 11.
  • Premium dining: Palo Trattoria (adults only) and Mike & Sulley's Flavors of Asia.
  • Reef View staterooms — balconies and windows that face inwards over the reef.

Tip: this is where adults tend to settle in the evening. Grab a boba or a drink at Taverna Portorosso while the children are at the kids' club, and look up — the canopy lighting is easy to miss if you only pass through by day.

Decks: 10–11, aft · Setting: Open-air under glass canopies · Best for: Couples, evening drinks, casual meals · Time: 1–2 hours · Cost: Mostly included; drinks and Palo extra

3. Toy Story Place

Toy Story Place water play area with slides and pools on the Disney Adventure from Singapore
Toy Story Place is the family pool deck, and the busiest area on sea days.

"The whimsical world of the Toy Story films" springs to life as the ship's family water park, on the top decks in the middle of the ship.

What's here:

  • Woody & Jessie's Wild Slides, which start up on Deck 19.
  • Sunnyside Family Pool, whirlpool spas and two jumbo screens showing Disney films.
  • Flying Saucer Splash Zone and the Toy Story Splash Pad for small children.
  • Pizza Planet and free soft-serve at Wheezy's Freezies, with Pixar Market Restaurant's buffet next door.

Tip: it is busy almost all day, so go early in the morning or on embarkation afternoon, when many guests are still boarding. Loungers go quickly; the shaded ones go first.

Decks: 17 (slides from 19) · Setting: Open-air · Best for: Children under 10 and their parents · Time: 2–4 hours on a sea day · Cost: Included

4. Marvel Landing

Marvel Landing on the Disney Adventure with the IronCycle Test Run roller coaster and Marvel-themed rides
Marvel Landing: three rides, an infinity pool and the best views on the ship.

"A fun-filled adventure zone on the high seas", and the part of the ship that surprises first-time Disney cruisers most. All three of the ship's rides are here, with no extra charge:

  • IronCycle Test Run — Disney's first roller coaster at sea and, at more than 820 feet (250 m), the longest. You ride Iron Man-style motorcycles above the top deck. Riders must be 120–195 cm tall.
  • Pym Quantum Racers — an Ant-Man-themed racing ride, gentler than it looks.
  • Groot Galaxy Spin — the easiest of the three, fine for younger children.
  • Infinity Pool and Infinity Bar — a sleek sundeck with cocktails named after the Infinity Stones.

Marvel characters appear from time to time (reviewers have met Ms. Marvel here), but there is no fixed meet-and-greet schedule, so check the Navigator app.

Tip: the coaster did not run on the maiden voyage but has operated since late March 2026, with occasional closures for wind or maintenance. Ride during a theatre show, when queues drop.

Decks: 18–19 · Setting: Open-air · Best for: Ages 8 and up, teens, adults · Time: 1–2 hours · Cost: Included; bar extra

The full list of rides and activities is in our 12 best things to do on the Disney Adventure.

5. Wayfinder Bay

Wayfinder Bay Moana-themed pool terrace with sea views on the Disney Adventure cruise
Wayfinder Bay: tiered seating, a shallow pool and open sea behind the ship.

"An outdoor oasis of relaxation and entertainment inspired by the Disney film Moana", set on tiered decks at the back of the ship with the sea behind it.

What's here:

  • A shallow wading pool with a sun shelf — for cooling off, not swimming laps.
  • Wayfinder Bar on Deck 10.
  • A big screen, and in the evening Moana: Call of the Sea, an outdoor show with Moana, Maui and puppetry.

Tip: outside show times this is one of the calmest open-air spaces on board — our pick for an hour with a book while the children are at the club. For the show, space is limited, so arrive early. Note that the ship has no adults-only pool; this is the closest thing to a quiet one.

Decks: 10–11, aft · Setting: Open-air · Best for: Adults, grandparents, sunset · Time: 1–2 hours · Cost: Included; drinks extra

6. San Fransokyo Street

San Fransokyo Street on the Disney Adventure inspired by Big Hero 6, with neon signs and shopfronts
San Fransokyo Street: lanterns, neon and shopfronts, all indoors.

"The vibrant energy of Tokyo meets the laid-back charm of San Francisco" on this indoor street themed to Big Hero 6. Lanterns, neon signs and layered shopfronts make it feel like a real city block, and it is our favourite piece of theming on the ship.

What's here:

  • Big Hero Arcade (paid games), where Baymax meets guests.
  • Baymax Cinemas — four screens showing classic and new Disney films, included.
  • Alley Cat Café, inspired by Aunt Cass's café (paid).
  • Duffy and Friends — the first Duffy shop on a Disney ship — plus a National Geographic store and a newsstand.
  • The tween club Edge (11–14) and teen club Vibe (14–17).

Nearby on the same deck are Bacha Coffee, TWG Tea, the D Lounge and private karaoke rooms.

Tip: walk it once by day and again after dinner, when the neon comes into its own. On a rainy monsoon afternoon, this is where the ship goes.

Deck: 7 · Setting: Indoor · Best for: Tweens, teens, rainy afternoons · Time: 1–2 hours · Cost: Films included; arcade, café and shops extra

7. Town Square

Town Square on the Disney Adventure, a princess-themed area with fairytale decor
Town Square, where "Disney Princesses reign supreme".

"Enter a fairytale world where Disney Princesses reign supreme." Town Square is the indoor princess area, with details from Tangled, Cinderella, Frozen, Snow White and The Princess and the Frog. It sits next to the Walt Disney Theatre, so you will pass through it on the way to every show.

What's here:

  • Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique — princess and pirate makeovers for ages 3–12 (paid).
  • The Royal Society for Friendship and Tea — a ticketed princess tea party for ages 3–12.
  • Royal Court Lounge and Spellbound, an Evil Queen-themed bar.
  • Marvel Style Studio — superhero makeovers by day, adults-only drinks tastings at night.
  • Princess appearances, including Anna, Elsa, Rapunzel, Cinderella and Tiana.
  • Next door: the Walt Disney Theatre (Remember, Disney Seas the Adventure), Guest Services, and one deck down, Tiana's Bayou Lounge and the ship's World of Disney store.

Tip: makeovers and the tea party sell out on short sailings — book them the day your booking window opens. Otherwise, the best time to enjoy Town Square is the half hour before a show, when it is at its liveliest — check the Navigator app for princess appearances.

Decks: 6–7, midship · Setting: Indoor · Best for: Princess fans aged 3–12, show-goers · Time: 1 hour, plus shows · Cost: Area included; makeovers and tea extra

How to See All 7 Areas on a 3- or 4-Night Cruise

You can see every area on a 3-night sailing; a 4-night sailing lets you do the favourites twice. Plan by time of day rather than by area:

Early morningMarvel Landing, Toy Story PlaceShortest queues, cooler sun

Rooms That Look Over the Themed Areas

Two stateroom types face inwards rather than out to sea: Garden View rooms overlook Imagination Garden and the stage, and Reef View rooms overlook Discovery Reef. Children love watching shows from the balcony; light sleepers may prefer a sea-facing room, as the garden stays lively until late. Our cabin guide for families compares them.
